... we're already three quarters of the way through May! Patchwork has been creeping along in the background of life. I only had two items on my To Do List this month... finish Month 4 and start Month 5 of Orbiter, and Month Two of The Scrappy Star Quilt Adventure.
As I finished Month 4 of my Orbiter Quilt I decided to place all the finished pieces up on my design wall. Wow... it certainly is distinctive.
Month 5 blocks include these smaller half square triangles and where I thought I might get these finished this month... yeah nah... I don't see that happening any more...
But I have started the first piecing of blocks together! It looks very complicated.
This was after I left my sewing room undisturbed for a week and found at least half of the blocks had spontaneously jumped off the design wall onto the floor! Oh, the heartache. Where I had originally carefully labelled each pile of blocks, I had not labelled each block (each pile was 4 identical blocks so just the top one got labelled). Picking them up off the floor they are completely unidentified so the next time they get placed I will need to be super careful that they are going in the right place.
Month two fabrics for The Scrappy Star Quilt Adventure BOM arrived with instructions for a Friendship star with variations.
And piecing started not long after. My first couple of blocks were high contrast!
The next couple were a bit more blendy blendy...
And how they are starting to look all together. No decision has been made yet regarding layout but I'm keen on something that avoids matching seams... just saying πππ
And that's about it. Today I got up and spent a couple of hours decluttering and reorganising a few different areas of my kitchen. Gah! What a job... over a decade in one small house means that clutter levels were exceeded a few years ago. Crap covered the entire kitchen table! This needs to be a continuing job... but huge strides were made today. We then headed to The Waitangi Treaty Grounds for lunch and a visit to the Maori War Memorial Museum "Te Rau Aroha". Then home again for some more sorting... all ready to return to work tomorrow. You will notice a lack of sewing... but sometimes cleaning has to prevail.
