And so we come to the end of June

Quilting in bite sized pieces is not super ideal but is the way things are at the moment.

I got a few more blocks done for The Scrappy Star BOM - this month it is the Exploding Star block.

These blues and greens make my heart happy.

I have just two more blocks left to fill the holes in my Orbiter Quilt.

Currently sitting at partially pieced...

So close!!  I think this needs to be my goal for July.

I also started a new piecing and applique project using special precut applique shapes and a machine needle turn technique.

This is the first row for Month One.

And this is Block Three

You can see here the technique for using the specialty paper ... After fusing it to the back of your fabric, you cut out the fabric with a small seam allowance and glue the seam allowance over and down - avoiding puckers.

The paper apparently semi dissolves once washed so does not need to be removed.

The pieces are then sewn to the background using a small zigzag and blending thread.  I'm using a beige invisifil thread which so far has blended into all the colours.  The hand work (cutting, gluing and folding) is plenty achievable over these cold dark winter evenings... Even with poor lighting!
